We’re thrilled to celebrate an incredible milestone in Philadelphia wrestling: Simon Gratz High School is officially bringing wrestling back to its halls for the first time in over 30 years!
This isn’t just the launch of a new program — it’s the revival of opportunity, discipline, and empowerment for young people in a school and community that truly deserves it.
As a longtime pillar in North Philadelphia, Simon Gratz has a proud legacy of developing student leaders through academics, arts, and athletics. Now, wrestling joins that tradition — a sport known not only for building strength, but for instilling confidence, resilience, and mental toughness in young people.
We’re also honored to share that this new beginning was made possible by the generosity and vision of Resilite Sports Products, a national partner of Beat the Streets National. In recognition of Philadelphia being the host city for the 2025 BTS National Camp & Duals, Resilite is donating a brand-new wrestling mat to support Simon Gratz in launching this program with the resources and safety it deserves.
“It’s more than a mat — it’s a foundation. It’s a space for these students to grow, to compete, and to belong,” said a BTS Philly staff member. “We’re grateful to Resilite for helping us make this happen in our own backyard.”
This moment marks more than just a return to the mat — it’s a reminder of what can happen when communities, partners, and schools come together to invest in youth. The team at Simon Gratz is already hard at work laying the groundwork for their first season, with help from Beat the Streets Philly coaches and mentors.
We can’t wait to see the Simon Gratz Bulldogs take the mat for the first time in three decades — and we’re proud to be part of the journey.
