November 20, 2025; Cleveland, OH — Beat the Streets is proud to celebrate an extraordinary milestone in the journey of one of our own. Coach Sumayyah Kemp, a dedicated leader and mentor within Beat the Streets Cleveland, was recently recognized by the Cleveland Cavaliers Community Foundation for her inspiring impact on young people and her leadership within the community.
This fall, Sumayyah embarked on a new and historic chapter as she joined Delaware State University as a Division I collegiate wrestler. Her achievement carries special significance: Delaware State is home to the first-ever Division I women’s wrestling program at an HBCU. Sumayyah is not only breaking barriers but also paving the way for future generations of young women in the sport.
We are incredibly proud of Sumayyah’s accomplishments — as a coach, a role model, and now a trailblazing student-athlete.
We are also deeply grateful to the Cleveland Cavaliers Community Foundation for their generous support of Sumayyah and the Beat the Streets mission. The Foundation has committed to covering Sumayyah’s Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 tuition at Delaware State University. In addition, they have pledged $20,000 to Beat the Streets Cleveland, a gift that will directly benefit the young athletes she has inspired.
Sumayyah’s story is a powerful reminder of what is possible when community, opportunity, and determination come together. We can’t wait to see all she continues to accomplish — on the mat and beyond.
